A Siemens ultrasonic flowmeter is a device used to measure the flow rate of liquids or gases in a pipe using ultrasonic sound waves. It is widely used in industries like water treatment, oil & gas, power plants, and manufacturing.
Siemens (now part of Siemens AG) manufactures ultrasonic flowmeters under product lines such as SITRANS F US.
🔹 How It WorksUltrasonic flowmeters measure flow using sound waves. There are two main types:
1️⃣ Transit-Time MethodTwo sensors are placed on the pipe.
One sends an ultrasonic signal downstream.
The other sends it upstream.
The difference in travel time between the two signals is used to calculate flow rate.
Used for clean liquids (water, chemicals).
Measures frequency shift of sound waves reflected by particles or bubbles in the fluid.
Used for dirty or slurry fluids.
